News and Notes
Haynes King out: 4-7 weeks with crack in his lower leg per Jimbo. He played just two series for the Aggies as they limped their way to an UGLY 10-7 win against Colorado at Mile High.
Can the Aggies win with Zach Calzada in the meantime?: Speaking of ugly… it was not Calzada’s day when he replaced King under center for the Aggies. Completed just 18 of 38 passes, fumbled a ball at the goal line. Of course, he didn’t throw any interceptions, figured out a way to win and now Jimbo has a full week to prepare him as the starter. Should be enough to beat New Mexico, but will it be enough to cover?
Former Kentucky QB Terry Wilson has NM off to 2-0 start: Hey, there’s a name we recognize. Wilson transferred to play for the Lobos and has been slinging it around a little. Threw for 385 yards and 3 TDs to lead NM to a 34-23 win over hated in-state rival New Mexico State. Has completed 74% of his passes and is 6 TD – 0 INT through 2 wins.
Picks for This Game
We don’t have a strong lean on the side for this game. 30 points is quite a bit to cover for a team that scored only 10 points in Colorado last week.
If you’re making a play on this one, the best bet may be Over 50.5 as the Aggies try to get right with their offense under Zach Calzada.
This is an easy A&M cover. Jimbo’s given all the reps this week to Calzada who will show off his arm-talent and the best D in the land is returning McKinley Jackson who is a key player at DT. The secondary is playing it’s best ball under Jimbo. Expect to see Deman Demas’s unveiling at WR to boot. Terry Wilson will be running for his life the entire game (which will be a key to the cover). This is a get-right game before playing Arkansas the following week.
